7/17/2012

David De Lossy/Thinkstock(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) -- As many as 17 people were injured, some critically, after a shooting broke out at a bar in Alabama early Tuesday morning, according to multiple reports.

The shooting occurred at the Copper Top Bar in downtown Tuscaloosa -- a bar known to be frequented by college students, ABC News' Birmingham affiliate WBMA-TV reports.  The shooting began sometime after 12:30 a.m., as patrons of the bar were hit by bullets being offloaded by a shooter -- or shooters -- who stood outside and opened fire on those inside, published reports say.

The motive behind the shooting is not yet known.  No arrests have been made.
