PHOTOS: Naomi Watts Steps Out As Princess Diana

Naomi Watts has some pretty big shoes to fill for her latest project. Princess Diana’s to be exact. The British-born, Aussie-raised actress is currently filming “Caught in Flight” in Croatia where she’s turning heads as the late royal’s doppelganger.
The flick, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, details the last two years of Diana’ s life and her failed romance with heart and lung surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn (played by “Lost” hottie Naveen Andrews). It will also touch on her fling with Dodi Fayed and the tragic car crash in a Paris tunnel that took her life in 1997 at 36.
Jessica Chastain was originally tapped to play the part, but Watts confirmed it belonged to her in February. The 43-year-old actress told E!, “It’s such an honor to be able to play this iconic role. Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.”
The first pics have surfaced from the sunny set showing Watts decked out in a sleek, shiny number that will have royal fashion watchers drooling.
