Who Really Won Egypt's Presidential Election?

6/19/2012

MAHMUD HAMS/AFP/GettyImages(CAIRO) -- The campaign of Egyptian presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq claims that he, not the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate, won this weekend's presidential election.

The declaration of victory on Tuesday afternoon came just hours after the Muslim Brotherhood declared that their candidate, Mohammed Morsi, had defeated Shafiq by almost one million votes.

Numerous independent media outlets have confirmed Morsi's victory. Both sides have accused each other of voting violations.

The Brotherhood has issued calls for a large protest on Tuesday evening against the ruling military council.
