BULENT KILIC/AFP/Getty Images(DUBAI) -- Thousands of Syrian kids are missing the start of school because their lives are disrupted by the ongoing conflict.

UNICEF says at least 200,000 Syrian children have been displaced from their homes within the country, and have difficulty accessing education. Two thousand schools have been damaged, and hundreds more have become shelters for Syrians who continue to flee the violence.

At least 137 people were killed in Syria on Monday, according to one activist group.
